The ficus religiosa - Bodhi tree

This is my favourite bonsai (or the first one developed to a mature level). This one started its life as a small plant in one of our pots. I started to training it for last two years (just trimming). Recenly I moved it into a bonsai pot, and styled it. The nebari structure is very amazing, looking at this tree is my favourite pass time !

  1. This is the one I really like. I have quiet a few Peepal saplings growing in my building compound. I think I'll try to get one of those and start with this fascinating art. Hope it turns out well.
    Good job bro...

  2. I love this too, what a lovely plant. I have grown a good number of them from seed here and plan on starting the root-over-rock process in the Spring once it starts to warm up a bit. When I saw your photo I thought how amazing it'd look with the roots trained over a rock, possibly even in a larger bonsai pot. They also look amazing when aerial roots are encouraged to come down to the soil, which is another plan for some of the trees. Their roots are so tough, I feel like there's so many options :) Curious as to the progress, if you have any other updates, email me if you remember. thanks!
